I have just recently started posting my posts from ‘Blogo‘ a desktop publishing tool for blogs. Using Blogo is useful tool for me as internet time whilst travelling usually incorporates having to pay for internet access at a huge rate.
Preceding Blogo I was writing all my articles in Evernote and then copy paste all my musings into my WordPress dashboard whilst online but this was still taking a long time by the time I had uploaded and positions photos, added tags, categories and links. (for some reason copying and pasting from Evernote is not that easy!)
All this can now be done before going online and although the software is pretty basic it has the essentials. I would like to have the ability to wrap the text better round my photos but maybe a new update could incorporate this soon. Another useful addition would be to add video handling capabilities into the media drop box which currently only supports images. Although my blog currently only uses images I would love to have a quick and easy workflow to throw up HD video from my Canon 5D DSLR.
I still use Evernote for cribbing research material from the net. The Evernote plugin for Safari is great and in a rush I can just hit it and it opens up the page I am looking at with all the media preserving formats and saves it to my harddrive so I can look at it any time I wish. For my articles on for example “Sea Shepard – Gojira – Greenpeace on steroids!” I was able to crib chunks of their website (seashepard.org) so I could double check my facts before posting.
If you are going to be travelling and blogging try slimming you workflow to cut down how much time you spend connected to the internet. It will save your precious travelling budget!
